Judas Priest's Rob Halford to undergo elective hernia surgery

Judas Priest's Rob Halford says he's planning on getting another surgery before taking off on tour.

In an interview with ABC News, the singer says he's getting an umbilical hernia repaired so he can be in the best of shape, joking that "it looks like the alien just burst forth."

It's an elective surgery, and Halford says his doctors recommended he leave it be after going through a spinal injury last year.  But the rocker says it's "not very appealing to look at," and he doesn't mind going under the knife again.  He adds that while the music the group creates might be "immortal," the members themselves are "not bestowed with that attribute."

Judas Priest's new album Redeemer of Souls is set for release on July 15th.
